“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”

Believe it or not, leadership development is a “team activity”! In other words, if you truly want to develop as a leader, you need to involve those around you to give you input, feedback and encouragement. They are the ones who are best able to tell you what your strengths and weaknesses are, and how you can continue to improve.

If you’d like to develop as a leader,
try this…
[/x_alert][x_gap size=”50px”][x_text]Marshall Goldsmith outlines a simple, yet powerful approach for ongoing leadership development.
The 8 steps are:
- Ask
- Listen
- Think
- Thank
- Respond
- Involve
- Change
- Follow-Up

If you have already asked for feedback from people around you about your leadership, listened to their responses, and thought and prayed about it, then you should now be at the point where you have chosen ONE area that you would like to improve in.
[/x_alert][x_text]The next step in the development process is to “Involve” others in putting together a development plan. To do so, we recommend that you:
- Set a Goal.
- Look for resources, books, and training that will help you, including what you can find on the ALLC website.
- Find a coach and/or mentor to assist you.
- Ask people around you for their ideas of how you can improve using a simple process called “Feedforward“. You can watch a short video about how to use the Feedforward process here.
Now, it’s time to put a plan together that defines your goal, the actions you are going to take, when you will take those actions, and when you will re-evaluate your progress.
